If the base of the ladder is 15 feet from the house and reaches 20 feet up the side of the house, what is the length of the ladder? In feet

Part 1: 25 feet long

C is the hypotenuse which you are finding for part 1.

You are finding B for part 2.

Part 1:

15^2 + 20^2 = C^2

225+400=C^2

625=C^2

Sqrt(625)= C

25=C

Part 2:

6^2 + B^2 = 10^2

36 + B^2 = 100

Subtract 36 from both sides.
