Answer:

b=5

Explanation:

C(1,3) and point D(4,-3)

Since we want the equation in slope intercept form we must first calculate the slope (m):

m=(y_(2)-y_(1))/(x_(2)-x_(1)) \\\\m=(-3-3)/(4-1)\\ \\m=(-6)/(3) \\\\m=-2

By point slope formula and using point C (1,3) we have:
y-y_(1)=m(x-x_(1))\\\\y=m(x-x_(1))+y_(1)\\\\y=-2(x-1)+3\\\\y=-2x+2+3\\\\y=-2x+5

So the slope is -2 and the y -intercept (b) is 5.
