NEED HELP FAST. (Fractions) 5/6 + 1/3, in the simplest form. Please explain how you got the answer.

The answer is 1 1/6

Explanation:

So in order to add the fractions you must first find the common denominator( the bottom fraction number) in this case the denominator is 6 and 3 so we will multiply 3 by 2 to get 6. The numerator of 1/3 which is 1 will also be multiplied by 2. So 1/3 will become 2/6 and when you add 5/6+ 2/6 to get 7/6. This is an improper fraction so you simplify and obtain 1 and 1/6.

To add both sides need the same denominator. To give he fractions a common denominator, multiply the second fraction (1/3) by 2.

5/6 + 2/6

Add the numerators

7/6

Change into mixed number

1 and 1/6
