2x - 6y = 8

-x + 3y = 10

Add x to both sides in the 2nd equation.

x + 10 = 3y

Subtract 10 from both sides.

x = 3y - 10

Now that we have a value for x, we can plug it into the first equation to solve for y.

2(3y - 10) - 6y = 8

Distributive property.

6y - 20 - 6y = 8

Simplify.

-20 ≠ 8

Because there are no solutions, the two lines are parallel and never cross,.

it has no solution

because the whole thing will cancel itself out hopes that helps
