\mathrm{Multiply:}\:1\cdot \:x=x\\-6\left(x-1\right)-7=-7x+2\\\mathrm{Expand\:}-6\left(x-1\right)-7:\quad -6x-1\\-6x-1=-7x+2\\\mathrm{Add\:}1\mathrm{\:to\:both\:sides}\\-6x-1+1=-7x+2+1\\\mathrm{Simplify}\\-6x=-7x+3\\\mathrm{Add\:}7x\mathrm{\:to\:both\:sides}\\-6x+7x=-7x+3+7x\\Simplify\\x=3

-6(x - 1)-7 = -7x + 2

Distribute the left side:

-6x + 6 - 7 = -7x + 2

-6x - 1 = -7x + 2

Put all the values with x on the left side and numbers on the right:

x = 3
