The y intercept is when the graph crosses the y axis.
Here, the y intercept is the point (0,12).
(because there is +12 in the end of the equation)

The y intercept is when x is equal to 0. So we plug in 0 for x and solve the equation.
y = 0^2 + 8(0) + 12
y = 12
