Answer:

The y-intercept is (0, 4/3) and the equation of is y = -1/6x + 4/3. if the y-coordinate of point c is 13, its x-coordinate is -70

Equation of a line

The equation of a line in slope-intercept form is y = mx + b

where;

m is the slope

b is the y-intercept

Given the coordinate points (14, -1) and (2, 1)

Slope = 1-(-1)/2-14

Slope = 2/-12

Slope = -1/6

Determine the y-intercept

1 = -1/6(2) + b

1 = -1/3 + b

b = 1 + 1/3

b = 4/3

The given equation of the line is y = -1/6x + 4/3

For the y-intercept

y = -1/6(0) + 4/3

y = 4/3

Hence the y-intercept is (0, 4/3)

For the x-intercept

0 = -1/6(x) + 4/3

1/6x = 4/3

24x = 3

x = 1/8

Hence the x-intercept is (1/8, 0)

If the y-coordinate of point C is 13, hence;

y = -1/6x + 4/3

13 = -1/6x + 4/3

-1/6x = 13 - 4/3

-1/6x = 35/3

-1/2 x = 35

x = -70

The y-intercept is (0, 4/3) and the equation of is y = -1/6x + 4/3. if the y-coordinate of point c is 13, its x-coordinate is -70
