78 POINTS!!

A researcher found evidence of a correlation between numbers of sunglasses sold and surfing accidents at a certain beach. In months when the total sales of sunglasses increased, the number of reported surfing accidents also increased. The researcher created a graph to show the correlation.

a. Describe how the data show a correlation between sunglasses sales and surfing accidents. Does the correlation prove that sunglasses are causing surfing accidents? Does it prove that surfing accidents are causing increased sunglasses sales? Explain your reasoning.

b. Describe how you would differentiate between correlation and causation for these data. What kind of evidence would you need to support your claim?

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

There is no way that it is just a coincidence the way the two lines line up almost perfectly is and it would make sense because if people are buying sun glasses and going surfing with them at the beach and it would probably obscure their vision so i believe its not a coincidence it is just statistics proving the theory correct.

i would say that this is definitely causation as in the more people buy sun glasses the more people have accidents while surfing because of obscured vision. you would probably have to look more itno the stats to fully prove it but i believe its is a direct causation.
