describe how the author's word choice creates a different tone in each poem. Use textual evidence from the recipes to support your answer. Your answer should be between 5 – 7 sentences long.

A Happy Home • 5 cups love
• 4 cups loyalty
• 4 cups faith
• 3 cups tenderness
• 1 cup kindness
• 2 tablespoons of understanding • 2 tablespoons friendship
• a dash of hope and laughter
Take love and loyalty, mix thoroughly with faith.
Blend it with tenderness, kindness, and understanding.
Add friendship and hope, sprinkle abundantly with laughter. Bake it with sunshine.
Serve daily with generous helpings.

Fold two hands together
And express a dash of sorrow Marinate it overnight
And work on it tomorrow
Chop one grudge in tiny pieces Add several cups of love

Cut in and help your friend
If he should be in need

First, a story's " Tone " is how an author expresses himself. A "tone" can be angry, depressed, joyful, etc. Although using the same techniques, the authors of " A Happy Home" and " A lasting Friendship" have different tones. In " A Happy Home" the tone is happiness and joy. The author is saying this is how to get a friend. In the other poem, the author is saying this is how you keep a friend. In the poem" A Lasting friendship" the author shows how to keep a friend and have a healthy long friendship takes work. Such as it says in line 5, " And Work on it tomorrow". It's not easy, everything good in life takes work. That's what the author of this poem is trying to explain.
