16x+2+26y=180 (corresponding angles)
45x-5+16x+2=180 (consecutive interior)

16x+26y=180-2
45x+16x=180-2+5

16x+26y=178
61x=183 (divide by 61 both sides of the equation) --> x=3

when x=3, then 16x+26y=178 is
16×3+26y=178 (subtract 48 (48=16×3) from both sides of the equation)
26y=130 (divide both sides of the equation by 26)

y=5

answer: x=3 and y=5
