Three elements of art found in the Mona Lisa are: 1.The use of the technique of "sfumato", 2. atmospheric perspective and 3. Portrait in the Renaissance

1. The use of "sfumato" refers to the soft outline or the technique of not drawing outlines, in certain details of the portrait like the corners of the mouth and eyes. This technique makes the woman's gaze appear as softer and misterious.

2. The use of atmospheric perspective makes distant objects appear as they were closer to the portrait, distant objects blend with some of the atmosphere's colors. In the Mona Lisa, Leonardo da Vinci chose to place the horizon at the level of the eyes and there is an imaginary landscape behind the portrait.

3. Individual portraits in the Renaissance were something new since before this period, artists only painted portraits of heroes, kings, sacred characters, or other important characters. This portrait is different since it portrays a secular and common person. The Mona Lisa is the center of the portrait, emphasizing the importance of humanism.

What mostly attracts my attention in this artwork is the woman's glance. She has an ambiguous smile, her glance could be described as peaceful but at the same time it could be showing other emotions. This makes it mysterious and complex.
