How do you solve
2x -8=2(x-4)

So the problem is 2x-8 = 2(x-4). First off, let's perform the distributive property on the right side of the expression. 2 * x is 2x. 2 * -4 is -8. That makes the right side 2x-8. 2x - 8 = 2x-8, so nothing else needs to be done. Because both sides are identical, all real numbers are the solution.
