3x+y=-4
3x-4y=6

3x+y=-4

3x-4y=6

--------------subtract

5y = -10

y = -2

Substitute y = -2 into 3x + y = -4

3x + (-2) = -4

3x - 2 = -4

3x = -2

x = -2/3

Answer

Solution x = -2/3, y = - 2 OR (-2/3 , - 2)
