Have you ever been skydiving? Is this something that you would ever want to do? What is the force that is acting against gravity when things fall to the ground from thousands of feet above sea level? How do Swati and Banks adjust their body position during a skydiving jump so they can fall at the same rate? During a free fall Swati was accelerating at -9.8m/s2. After 120 seconds how far did she travel? Use the formula =1/2 * t2 to solve your answer. (Do not forget to keep units in your answer.)

What is the force that is acting against gravity when things fall to the ground from thousands of feet above sea level?

air drag

How do Swati and Banks adjust their body position during a skydiving jump so they can fall at the same rate?

by pulling in or stretching out their limbs which change their body's cross section area n drag force

During a free fall Swati was accelerating at -9.8m/s2. After 120 seconds how far did she travel?

Use the formula distance=1/2*acceleration * t2

distance traveled=1/2*(-9.8)*(120)^2

=-70560m

=-70.56km

-ve means down

Hi,

Have you ever been skydiving?

No I haven't.

Is this something that you would ever want to do?

No, I wouldn't want to do this.

What is the force that is acting against gravity when things fall to the ground from thousands of feet above sea level?

Either air friction or drag.

How do Swati and Banks adjust their body position during a skydiving jump so they can fall at the same rate?

You need to move your arms and legs in different positions for your body to turn and go faster or slower.

During a free fall Swati was accelerating at -9.8m/s2. After 120 seconds how far did she travel? Use the formula =1/2 * t2 to solve your answer. (Do not forget to keep units in your answer.)

58.8km.
