Europeans traveling across the Atlantic from Europe and Africa bringing plants, diseases and animals with them to the Americas was known as the Columbian Exchange.

One of the most important exchanged goods was the sugar, and eventually, through colonization, the Caribbean islands and tropical places where the main areas for sugar productions. For this, the need for slavery that would work on these productions grew, rising the demand for African slaves.
