I need help with a question again.

The equation below has one solution

9x-10=3x+2

What is the solution to the equation?

I did the math and got -2 is that the right answer or am I missing something?

The answer is actually 2. Not -2.

You're supposed to combine like terms first.

9x and 3x becomes 9x-3x

10 and 2 becomes 10+2

So now the new equation is 9x-3x=10+2. Next step is to solve each side of the equation.

9x-3x=6x

10+2=12

Now it's 6x=12. The last step is to divide each side by 6.

6x/6=x

12/6=2


x=2
