4x-6=2x-2

You then would eliminate 6, by adding 6 to both sides

4x=2x+4

Then you want all of the X's on the same side, so you subtract 2x from both sides.

2x=4

Then to isolate the X, you divide by 2

2=x

The answer is x=2
