Karen drops a 2.0 kg rock from the top of a mountain. Determine the distance the rock travels after falling for 3 seconds assuming it has reached free fall and given the gravitational acceleration of 9.8 m/sec2 downward. [HINT: Distance=(0.5)*(acceleration)*(time2)]

Um...Is it 29.4m? I'm guessing, since, there's 3 seconds and it's at 9.8m/sec downward, so,

9.8 x 3 = 29.4m

Step-by-step explanation:

The data given is as follows.

mass = 2.0 kg

time = 3 seconds

gravitational acceleration =
9.8 m/s^(2)

Calculate the distance traveled by the rock when it falls is as follows.

Distance = (1)/(2) * acceleration * time^(2)

=
(1)/(2) * 9.8 m/s^(2) * (3 second)^(2)

=
(1)/(2) * 9.8 m/s^(2) * 9 second^(2)

= 44.1 m

Therefore, the distance traveled by rock is 44.1 meter.
