Question:-

Solve for x Or Find the value of x

Expression provided:-

$\sf \: x-8=3x+6$

Solution:-

$\sf \longmapsto \: x-8=3x+6$

Subtract 3x from both sides:-

$\sf \longmapsto \: x - 8 \red{- 3x}=3x+6 \red{- 3x}$

On Simplification of this equation:-

$\sf \longmapsto - 2x - 8 = 3x + 6 - 3x$

$\sf \longmapsto - 2x - 8 = 0 + 6$

$\sf \longmapsto - 2x - 8 = 6$

Add 8 to both sides:-

$\sf \longmapsto \: - 2x - 8\red{+8}=6\red{+8}$

On Simplification of this equation:-

$\sf \longmapsto - 2x - 0 = 6 + 8$

$\sf \longmapsto - 2x = 14$

Divide both sides by -2:-

$\sf \longmapsto \frac{ - 2x}{ \red{- 2}} = \frac{14}{ \red{- 2}}$

Cancel -2x/-2, result would be x :-

$\sf \longmapsto \frac{ \cancel{ - 2}x}{ \cancel{ - 2}} = (14)/( - 2)$

Then cancel 14/-2, result would be -7 :-

$\sf \longmapsto \: x = \cancel(14)/( - 2)$

$\sf \longmapsto \: x = - 7$
