Slope of (4,6) and (-1,2)

We can use the slope formula to find the slope between these two points:

(y.2 - y.1)/(x.2 - x.1) = m

2 - 6 / -1 - 4

-4 / -5

Because there are two negatives, they cancel out.

The slope of the line between these two points is 4/5.

\text{The formula of a slope:}\\\\m=(y_2-y_1)/(x_2-x_1)\\\\\text{We have}\\\\(4,\ 6)\to x_1=4,\ y_1=6\\(-1,\ 2)\to x_2=-1,\ y_2=2\\\\\text{substitute}\\\\m=(2-6)/(-1-4)=(-4)/(-5)=(4)/(5)=0.8
