Both had limited data.

Both had different interests.

They wanted to contradict each other's theory.

Explanation :

Galileo studied Jupiter and its moons. Newton studied the gravitational force that held the planets in orbit.

Galileo constructed a telescope called Galileo's Telescopes. He also supported the Copernican theory.

Newton proposed the Universal law of gravitation. According to him, there exists a force between objects in the universe which is directly proportional to the product of masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them.

i.e.

F=G(m_1m_2)/(r^2)

So, we can say that the two scientists proposed different theories about the solar system. This shows that they both had different interests.
