Then by Pythagoras rule:


a^(2) +b^(2) =c^(2)

Let's take the length of the unknown leg in the figure as
x.

Now lets substitute the values from the figure to above equation.


x^(2) +5^(2) =√(61) ^(2)

=
x^(2) +25 =61

=
x^(2) =61-25

=
x^(2) =36
