Amerada Hess company wants to make an oil container tank. Engineers are shown a sample tank. which is 1 meter in height, and they are told that the new tank should look similar to the sample. If the sample tank is 1/25 the size of the original tank. what is the height of the original tank?

Since the sample is 1/25 the size and the size of the sample is 1m then:


1 = (1)/(25) x

x is the height of our container. we need to move 1/25 to the other side so we multiply both sides of the equation by 25.


25 * 1 = (1)/(25) x * 25

On the right side of the equation, 1/25 cancels out with 25 since:


(1)/(25) * 25 = 1

so we are left with the 25 x 1 on the left:


25 = x

so the container is 25m; C.
