Solution

Here 10th term =35

Rule = Add 3 to get the previous term to get the next term.

This is an Arithmetic sequence, where the common difference (d) = 3

Let's take the first term = a

2nd term = a + d

3rd term = a + 2d

4th term = a + 3d

and so on.

10th term = a + 9d

The 10th term is 35. So 35 = a + 9(3) [d = 3]

Now let's find the value of a (first term)

35 = a + 27

a= 35 - 27

a = 8

We have to find the 5th term.

5th term = a + 4d

5th term = 8 + 4*3 = 8 +12 = 20

Answer: 20.

Thank you. :)
