Please help explain the Cold War

The main enemies during the cold war were, the United States and the Soviet Union. The Cold War got its name because both sides were afraid of fighting each other directly. In a "hot war," nuclear weapons might destroy everything. So, instead, both sides fought each other indirectly.

it was russia and U.S.A fighting in secret we all knew about it but they did not know that we had nukes pointing at them from cuba i think
