For this project, you'll submit a report in the form of an essay or numbered or bulleted answers to the questions. You'll be presented with a series of clients with various injuries and illnesses. Your job is to design a recreational activity for each client to participate in. Be creative. The report should address the following: Bettina is an eighty-one-year-old woman who lives in a nursing home. She has cognitive impairment due to early-stage Alzheimer's disease. She can walk, but is easily confused and distracted. Do some Internet research on Alzheimer's disease so you can understand it. What kind of activity would you design for her, and why? Julian is an eight-year-old boy who wants to learn to swim. He has autism, which makes it difficult for him to participate in swimming lessons because of his sometimes disruptive behavior. You meet Julian through the parks and recreation department where you work as a recreational therapist. Research autism so you understand it. What kind of activity would be fun and useful for this client, and why? Jim is a fifty-year-old man who suffered a traumatic brain injury in a car accident. He has difficulty concentrating, has reduced short-term memory, and gets easily frustrated. He wants to return to his job as an accountant. Research traumatic brain injury. What activity do you think might help Jim control his symptoms, and why? In this case, you have multiple clients: a group of varied ages at the adult day care center where you work as a recreational therapist. Your clients are ages eighteen to eighty-six and have a range of cognitive and physical abilities. You need to design an activity that they can all participate in. What do you design, and why? To prepare, research adult day care centers. Elisa is a forty-two-year-old woman who is in a drug- and alcohol-abuse facility for treatment of alcoholism. She is depressed and fearful about resuming her career as a lawyer. Research alcoholism. What are some things that might boost Elisa's confidence and physical activity level, and why?

so look up the symptoms of autism that could cause difficulties with teaching him how to swim and how to work around it (patience is key) if you need the symptoms just ask I'll get the real quick

look up difficulties that come with Alzheimer's and a way to help the 81 year old like maybe catching a tossed ball and walking with a dog around the nursing home (patience and encouragement)

look up brain injuries and exercise that might help with him it's important to encourage him to keep going

look up alcoholism maybe keep her mind and body occupied like word puzzles and exercises again patients is key
