Total cups of water in pitcher = 16 cups

Cups of water drank by Aditi =
2 (1)/(2) =
(5)/(2) cups

Cups of water drank by Kavitha =
3 (3)/(4)=
(15)/(4) cups

Cups of water drank by Rahul =
4 (1)/(8)=
(33)/(8) cups

Total cups of water drank by three of them

=
(5)/(2) +
(15)/(4) +
(33)/(8)

LCM of 2,4 and 8 is 8.

=
(20+30+33)/(8)

=
(83)/(8) cups

Number of cups left in the pitcher =
16 - (83)/(8)

LCM of 1 and 8 is 8.

=
(128-83)/(8)

=
(45)/(8)

=
5 (5)/(8) cups

So,
5 (5)/(8) cups are left in the pitcher.
