Work:

Equation;


3(x - 4) > 5x + 2

Distribute 3 over parenthesis.


3x - 12 > 5x + 2

Move variable 5x to the left side and change its sign.


3x - 5x - 12 > 2

Collect like terms.


- 2x - 12 > 2

Now divide both sides of inequality by -2 and flip the inequality sign.


x < - 7 \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: result
