Mel, who is 55 years old, is becoming presbyopic, straining to read the fine print on business contracts held at arm's length. What is happening to his eyes?

Presbyopia is also known as the aging age condition.

What is happening to Mel's eyes is that they are getting old. People over 35 years old may experience this condition.

People with this problem have difficulty in focussing clearly on close objects. Some of the symptoms are:

  • Difficulty reading small print.
  • Hold reading material at an arm's distance.
  • Headaches
  • Eyestrain

Mel will need eye glasses, which will focus better in the lower portion of the lens.
