Answer:

Nucleic material or genetic material can be present in the cell either in membrane bound organelles called "nucleus" or present free in the cytoplasm and marks the distinction between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cell.

In prokaryotic cell the genetic material is not present in the nucleus but floats freely in the cytoplasm like in figure 2 and 3 whereas in eukaryotic organisms it is present in a well defined nucleus like in figure 1 and 4.
