Simplify the following expression:

3x − 8y + 2x2 + 3y − 8x

2x2 − 5x − 5y
2x2 −11x − 5y
2x2 −5x − 11y
2x2 −11x −11y

Look at the expression.

3x -8y +2x^2 +3y -8x

Add up all the x-squareds . . . there are 2 of them

Add up all the Xs . . . 3x - 8x = -5x

Add up all the Ys . . . -8y + 3y = -5y

Add up the collection: 2x^2 -5x -5y
