Let the first number be x

Note that consecutive means right after

(x) + (x + 1) = 35

Simplify

2x + 1 = 35

Isolate the x. Note the equal sign. What you do to one side, you do to the other. Do the opposite of PEMDAS.

2x + 1 (-1) = 35 (-1)

2x = 35 - 1

2x = 34

2x/2 = 34/2

x = 34/2

x = 17

Plug in x back into the equations

17, 18 is your answer

hope this helps
