A heavy crate accidentally falls from a high-flying airplane just as it flies directly above a shiny red porsche smartly parked in a car lot. relative to the porsche, where will the crate crash?

Let the plane is moving horizontally with speed v at height H above the car

now the table will fall downwards with zero initial speed while its horizontal speed is same as that of plane

now the time taken by the table to reach the ground will be given as


t = \sqrt{(2H)/(g)}

so in the same time the table will move horizontally so the distance covered by the table is given as


d = v_x * t


d = v*\sqrt{(2H)/(g)}

so the table will move in front of car by the distance given above
