How do you test for odors during a lab investigation?

Hey there! :)

During a lab investigation containing liquids of any kind, you should always test the odor by waving your hand over the top of an open container and sniffing cautiously. This is called wafting, and should always be used in the case that a harmful chemical is being tested.
