Why did james the first resist parliaments growing power?

I believe the answer is: He believed he was God’s representative and should not be challenged.

James I believed that kings are appointed by the God himself and destined as a ruler for mankind. Because of this, he see King's power should be absolute and cannot be limited by restrictions made by the parliaments, which make him resist the development of power within the parliament.
