The Rough Riders comprised of a collection of Western cowboys and wealthy Eastern blue bloods officially known as the First U.S. Voluntary Cavalry. They were the first voluntary cavalry in the Spanish-American War which pitted the U.S against Spain over Spain's colonial policies with Cuba.
