Suppose you equation is something like

at+3 = bt-6

If you subtract
bt and 3 from both sides you have

at-bt = -9

We can rewrite this as

(a-b)t = -9

And we want this to be true when
t=6, so we have

6(a-b) = -9 \iff a-b = (-9)/(6) = (-3)/(2)

So, you can choose any couple a and b such that

a-b = (-3)/(2)

For example,

a = (-3)/(2),\quad b=0

or

a = 2,\quad b = (7)/(2)

and so on
