Formula for the coordinates of the midpoint of the AB sector:

A(x_A,\ y_A);\ B(x_B;\ y_B)\\\\M_(AB)\left((x_A+x_B)/(2);\ (y_A+y_B)/(2)\right)

A(-8,\ 7),\ B(6,\ -9)\\\\M\left((-8+6)/(2);\ (7+(-9))/(2)\right)\to M\left((-2)/(2);\ (-2)/(2)\right)\to M(-1;\ -1)

Answer: The picture 1. M(-1, -1).

C(2,\ 7),\ M(-1,\ -1)\\\\(2+x)/(2)=-1\ ;\ (7+y)/(2)=-1\ \ \ \ |\cdot2\\\\2+x=-2\ ;\ 7+y=-2\\\\x=-4\ ;\ y=-9\\\\D(-4;\ -9)

Answer: The picture 2. D(-4, -9).

Part A: First plot the points. Then you have to find the midpoint of AB.

Midpoint Formula:(x1+x2)/2,(y1+y2)/2

Answer: (-1,-1)

Part B: We know that the midpoint is (-1,-1). C is (2,7) and D is (x,y)

So redo the midpoint formula with both C and D.

(2+x)/2=-1

2 + x =-2; x=-4

(7+y)/2=-1

7 + y=-2; y=-9

Hope this helps!
