How much weed killer will Alan need for two fields, one that is 22 1/2 acres and one that is 38 1/4 acres? A. 28 1/8 quarts B. 47 4/5 quarts C. 60 3/4 quarts D. 48 3/5 quarts

1) Add up the two field areas: 22 1/2 acres + 38 1/4 acres = 60 3/4 acres total.

2) Multiply this result by the conversion factor "4/5 quart per acre:"

(243/4 acres)(4/5 quart per acre) = 48.6 quarts.

48.6 quarts will treat the two areas totalling 60 3/4 acres.
