An Olympic-size swimming pool holds 2,500 kiloliters of water. After swimmers splash water out of the pool, there are 24,500 hectoliters of water left in the pool. How many hectoliters of water did the swimmers splash out of the pool?

2,500 kiloliters = 2,500 × 10 = 25,000 hectoliters

25,000 − 24,500 = 500 hectoliters
