The solution to the equation is x=-2.

First simplify the equation by combining like terms.

3x-4-5x=x+4+x

Combine 3x+(-5x) and x+x.

3x+(-5x)=-2x

x+x=2x

-2x-4=2x+4

Subtract 2x from both sides of the equation.

-2x-2x-4=2x-2x+4

-4x-4=4

Add 4 on the sides of the equation.

-4x-4+4=4+4

-4x=8

Divide both sides by -4.

(-4x)/(4)=
(8)/(-4)

x=-2
