(y)/(2) +4 = (1)/(6)

Here we have to find the value of y.

So 4 is in addition on the left side, we perform opposite operation of addition, thus subtracting 4 from 1/6 on the right side.

(y)/(2) = (1)/(6) -4

Now here we have to find least common denominator of 1 and 6, which is 6.

(y)/(2) = (1)/(6) - (24)/(6)

subtracting numerators,

(y)/(2) = (1-24)/(6)

(y)/(2) = (-23)/(6)

multiplying 2 on the right side,

y=-23/3
