4(a+2)=9a\ \ \ |\text{use distributive property}\\\\(4)(a)+(4)(2)=9a\\\\4a+8=9a\ \ \ \ |-8\\\\4a=9a-8\ \ \ \ \ |-9a\\\\-5a=-8\ \ \ \ |:(-5)\\\\a=(8)/(5)\\\\a=1.6

4(a + 2) = 9a \\ 4a + 8 = 9a \\ 8 = 9a - 4a \\ 8 = 5a \\ a = (8)/(5)
