In 1885, "Indian National Congress" waged war against the permanent settlement of Lord Cornwallis.
In 1786 Charles Cornwallis was conveyed to India to change the organization's practices. In 1786, the East India Company Court of Directors initially proposed a permanent settlement for Bengal, altering the policy at that point being followed by Calcutta, which was endeavoring to build tax collection of zamindars (farmers).
