If the second term in a geometric sequence is -8 and the common ratio is 2, what is the value of the third term?

Answer is -16

The common ratio in a geometric sequence is what each number is multiplied by to continue the sequence. -8 x 2 = -16

This would be the first five terms:

-4, -8, -16, -32, -64
