Marlow is comparing the prices of two truck rental companies. Company A charges $3 per hour and an additional $75 as service charges. Company B charges $2 per hour and an additional $85 as service charges.

Part A: Write an equation to represent each company's total charges for renting a truck for a certain number of hours. For both equations (one for Company A and one for Company B), define the variable used. (4 points)

Part B: Which company would charge less for renting a truck for 5 hours? Justify your answer. (3 points)

Part C: How much money is saved by using the services of Company A instead of Company B to rent a truck for 3 hours? (3 points)

This can be written as y=mx+b. M is the rate of change and x is the one that's being multiplied by m. B is the constant. Y will be the total amount charged.

Part A

For Company A: y=$3h+$75

For Company B: y=$2h+$85

Part B

Just plug 5 in for the "h"

y=$3(5)+$75

y=$15+$75

y=$90

Do the same for company B

y=$2(5)+$85

y=$10+$85

y=$95

Therefore, company A would charge less for 5 hours.

Part C

Do the same as you did in part B

y=$3(3)+$75

y=$84

Now company B:

y=$2(3)+$85

y=$91

You're not done here. Take company's B and subtract that by company's A's:

$91-$84=$7

$7 is the amount that would be saved by using company A instead of B to rent a truck for 3 hours
