The sine ratio is the fraction of the opposite side over the hypotenuse
Angle A is opposite the side measuring 5 units (side BC)

The hypotenuse is always the longest side and always opposite the right angle. The hypotenuse is 13

So,
sin(A) = opposite/hypotenuse = 5/13
