The base is the number being raised to a power: (5/4).

The function is defined for all values of x, so the domain is (-∞, ∞).

Usually, an exponential function will have a range from 0 to infinity, not including either: (0, ∞). For that to be the case, we expect to see x in the exponent somewhere.
