Area is length times width. Our length and width are 4 5/8 and 1/2 respectively, so the formula for the area is
A=4 (5)/(8)* (1)/(2). It will be easier to get that mixed fraction into an improper one and then multiply the fractions straight across the top and straight across the bottom.
A= (37)/(8)* (1)/(2). Doing that multiplication gives us
A= (37)/(16), choice B.
