You just bought an aquarium for your fish, which is 39.75 inches wide and 11.375 inches deep. The salesman told you to keep the water 2 inches from the top of the tank so the filter to works properly. If the tank is 14 inches high, how many cubic inches of water will it contain once it's filled?

Answer:

5425.875 in.³

Explanation:

I bought an aquarium with 39.75 inches wide and 11.375 inches deep.

Salesman advised me to keep the water 2 inches below from the top of the tank.

If tank is 14 inch high then height of water that i will keep

= 14 - 2 = 12 inch

Therefore, Volume of the water will be

= length × depth × height.

= 39.75 × 11.375 × 12

= 5425.875 in.³

it will contain water 5425.875 in.³

we know that

high of the water=14 in-2 in=12 in

wide=39.75 in

deep=11.375 in

so

volume of the water in the tank=39.75*11.375*(12)-----> 5,425.875 in³

the answer is

5,425.875 in³ of water
